A violin traverses the musical worlds of East and West; a grand musical celebration commemorates the 250th anniversary of America's founding.
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, on October 4, 2026, the "East Meets West—Violin Tales" solo violin concert will be grandly performed at Boston's historic landmark, Faneuil Hall, co-produced by North American Entertainment and renowned entrepreneur Yolanda Dong Siyang, an ambassador of Eastern aesthetics.
At that time, internationally acclaimed violinist Lu Siqing will perform alongside pianist Derek Wang, presenting a special concert that blends Eastern and Western musical arts with classic melodies.
From Mozart's elegant fluidity to Beethoven's profound power, this concert will feature a significant highlight—the complete performance of the violin concerto "Butterfly Lovers" by Lu Siqing. The musical narrative of "Butterfly Lovers," from their acquaintance and tender parting to struggle and "transforming into butterflies," will gradually unfold on Lu Siqing’s strings, allowing the audience to experience the complete artistic charm of this Chinese classic, from delicate and graceful to grand and moving.
On this historically significant occasion of the 250th anniversary of America's founding, holding the concert at Faneuil Hall gives the performance a unique commemorative significance. Built in 1742, Faneuil Hall was an important venue for public gatherings and political discussions in Boston on the eve of the American Revolutionary War, where figures like Samuel Adams and John Hancock participated in rallies against British rule, earning it the title "Cradle of Liberty." For over two centuries, it has continued to embody crucial memories about freedom, civic participation, and American history.
On this important stage that has witnessed American history, Lu Siqing will perform "Butterfly Lovers" in its entirety, allowing East and West to converge on the 250th anniversary of America's founding. Meanwhile, this performance will also pay special tribute to one of the composers of "Butterfly Lovers," the renowned composer Chen Gang, adding an artistic expression from the East to this historically significant moment with this classic of Chinese music that has crossed over half a century and gained international acclaim.

From European Classical Masterpieces to Chinese Musical Classics
"East Meets West" is not only a presentation of classic works from both the East and West, but also a musical dialogue that transcends culture, time, and emotion. As a special musical tribute celebrating the 250th anniversary of America's founding, this concert will showcase classic melodies bridging Eastern and Western cultures, highlighting the intersection and resonance of diverse cultures within American society.
The first half of the concert will focus on two masters of European classical music. Mozart's "Violin Sonata No. 10 in B-flat Major" features bright, delicate, and lyrical melodies, resembling an elegant and intimate conversation between the violin and piano; Beethoven's "Violin Sonata No. 7 in C Minor" expresses strong dramatic tension and profound emotional depth, showcasing the powerful aspects of the piece.
In the second half of the concert, Lv Siqing will perform a representative work of Chinese violin music — "Butterfly Lovers" (Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai). From "Caoqiao's Oath" to "The Eighteenth Farewell," from "The Meeting on the Tower" to the final transformation into butterflies, familiar melodies will condense the thousand-year-old love legend into the strings, allowing Chinese cultural memory to bloom anew within Boston's historical space, adding a unique touch of Eastern artistic color to the 250th anniversary of America's founding.
Tribute to Composer Chen Gang
The violin concerto "Liang Zhu," created in 1959, is based on the melodies of Yue Opera and skillfully integrates the language of traditional Chinese music with the form of Western concertos, making it one of the most internationally influential works of Chinese music. It not only tells the story of the love, struggle, and freedom between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai but also carries the shared cultural memories of generations of Chinese people.
This concert will pay special tribute to one of the composers of "Liang Zhu," the renowned composer Mr. Chen Gang, and will feature a complete presentation of this classic work by Lv Siqing in Boston. As one of the most representative pieces in Lv Siqing's artistic career, "Liang Zhu" has been recorded by him multiple times, with related album sales reaching millions. During this special historical moment, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Lv Siqing will fully interpret "Liang Zhu" on the stage of Faneuil Hall, presenting the complete and rich musical narrative of this work to the audience, from its delicate and lyrical passages to the tense struggles and the metamorphosis into butterflies.

Siqing Lu
The internationally renowned violinist Lv Siqing is the first Oriental musician to win the gold medal at the International Paganini Violin Competition in Italy. He began learning the violin at the age of four and was admitted to the Affiliated Elementary School of the Central Conservatory of Music at the age of eight through an exceptional process. At eleven, he was selected by the world-famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin to study at the Menuhin School in the UK, and later he pursued further studies at the Juilliard School in New York.
Derek Wang
Pianist Derek Wang is active in various fields such as solo performances, chamber music collaborations, curation, and public art participation, gaining international attention for his unique interpretations of Liszt's works. He won first prize at the inaugural New York Liszt Competition in 2021 and received second prize at the 12th Utrecht International Liszt Piano Competition in 2022.
In this concert, Derek Wang will collaborate with violinist Lu Siqing to perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, and "The Butterfly Lovers," showcasing a delicate and layered dialogue between the violin and piano that presents different emotions and musical colors from Eastern and Western classical pieces.
